Extended School Closure Update:
I hope this message finds you and your family healthy during this extended closure. To help maintain your child's reading progress, I sent home a packet of nonfiction texts and comprehension skill practice pages. The packets were designed with your child's reading level and skills in mind. Your child has been working with similar passages and strengthening close reading strategies and annotation skills this year. These packets should serve as a review.
**Update as of March 23: I have now set up a Title I Google Classroom. I have invited all of my students to join. This should allow clearer communication and will also allow me to provide class work as we continue through this extended closure.
If your child did not receive an invite, please follow these directions:
- Log into Google Classroom
- Click on the + (plus) sign - it should be near the top right corner, by the waffle (grid of 9 small dots)
- Type in the code: vozkuk2
Lexia accounts and EPIC! reading accounts can also be accessed from computers or other devices at home. These programs may give your child a break from regular paper/pencil activities and still enhance his/her reading skills.
*Students can now access Accelerated Reader to take quizzes at home:
- Accelerated Reader
- Continue to the new platform
- Student login info - Username: 99# and Password: student
In addition to the packets and online software, I highly recommend spending time reading with your child or encouraging him/her to read independently for at least 15 minutes daily.
Our Title I time typically lasts 30 minutes, 3 - 4 days a week. I am recommending that your child devotes that much time to these reading activities while we are closed.
Please return the completed packets, as well as reading logs, when we return to school.
Please know that I am here to support your child in any way possible. If you, or your child, need assistance with other classes and/or assignments, please reach out to me through email at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Welcome and thanks for visiting my page! My name is Mrs. Sarah Bojalad. I am one of the three reading specialists at West Hills Intermediate. I have been serving as a Title I reading specialist for nine years. I was born and raised in Worthington and attended West Hills when I was younger. I now reside in the area with my husband and two sons. I am excited to be working in the community that helped shape me into the person I am today!
Prior to accepting a position with Armstrong School District, I worked for Karns City Area School District and Pittsburgh-Mount Oliver Intermediate Unit. I have worked with students of all age ranges, from Kindergarten students to seniors in high school. I earned my elementary education degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and my reading degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year. Igniting a passion for reading is an important part of my job, as well as helping students reach their own reading goals!
