Kittanning Lions Club recently held three poster contests and have announced the winners.
Peace Poster
In November, the Kittanning Lions Club held a Peace Poster Contest for the sixth-grade students at West Hills Intermediate School.
Coming in first place was Kaci Orris, daughter of Brett Orris of Worthington and Taylor McCormick of Apollo, placed second at this level.
The winning Peace Poster was sent to the District 14N contest where it was judged with posters from the five counties of Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Clarion and Lawrence.
Leader Dog
Poster Contest
Because Lions are dedicated to helping the blind, the Kittanning Lions Club held a Leader Dog Poster Contest for the fifth-grade students at West Hills Intermediate School in March to help them become more aware of the difficulties encounter by the blind.
Students were asked to show “Where Can I Go” or “What Can I Do” with my leader dog.
Winners of the contest included: Alayna Walker, daughter of Matthew and Alicia Walker of Kittanning; Ellison Transue, daughter of Jamie and Bradley Transue of Worthington; Lilly Claypoole, daughter of Margaret and Leland Claypoole of Worthington; Scarlett Cardiff, daughter of Brianna and Stephen Cardiff of Worthington; Caroline Jack, daughter of Danielle Enders-Jack and Brent Jack of Kittanning; Ophelia Enterline, daughter of Nicole Enterline of Worthington; Parker Petras, son of Katelyn and Brandon Petras of Kittanning; and Addalyn Truitt, daughter of Monica and Jason Jacobs of Kittanning and Joshua Truitt of Homer City.
Prizes of $25 each were awarded to the students selected.
Drug Awareness
Poster Contest
The Kittanning Lions Club held a Drug Awareness Poster Contest for the fourth-grade students at West Hills Intermediate School in February.
Each of our winning poster winners was awarded $25.
Winners included Allie Thatch, daughter of Jessica Montgomery and Jody Thatch of Worthington; Berkley Brocious, daughter of Lacey Harkleroad of Worthington; and Atalyn DeLuca, daughter of Rachelle and Nicholas DeLuca of Kittanning; Lydia Snyder, daughter of Stacy and Shawn Cogley of Kittanning and Michael Snyder of Apollo; Adalyne Moore, daughter of Jessica and Trevor Moore of Cowansville, Liliona Mechling, daughter of Samantha Gray of Worthington, and Leia Bavera, daughter of Cortney and Casey Bavera of Ford City.
All of their posters were sent to the District 14N Contest where they competed with the entries from the five counties of Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Clarion and Lawrence.
At this level Atalyn DeLuca received an honorable mention and Allie Thatch received second place.
Kittanning Lions Club extended congratulations to all of the participating students.
